A library is the delivery room for the birth of ideas, a place where history come to life - Holbrook Jackson.

South Calcutta Law College came into existence in 1970. This educational institution is one of the prominent law colleges in the country. The college imparts quality legal education through its undergraduate degree level program that is 5 years B.A. L.L.B. (General and Honours). This college is a co-educational Institution.

The law college library started functioning from 1970 itself. The library has developed together with the college as an indispensable part of the entire college.

The college has a well equipped library with reading room facilities. It has a stock of more than 10,000 books and 3,000 bound volume of journals. Sixteen (16) title journals are available in the library. The library provides Internet and Xerox facilities. Book-Bank facility is also available from the library to the needy students. The library is regularly maintained by pest control measures. All books are covered by insurance scheme (United India Insurance Co. Ltd.) policy no. 030400/48/14/88/00002222 

The South Calcutta Law College is very happy to announce that the library has proceeded a step forward towards its mission of achieving “complete automation of all library services” with the introduction of COMPUTERISED BOOK SEARCHING FACILITY. Students can search for their desired book from the database through internet.
